Since WGU works with a competency-based approach, the professor's feedback is even more important after submitting your assignments. Most WGU assessments accept multiple submissions until you pass it, in order to succeed if the assessment is returned to you, you will need to check the professor's feedback and the areas of the assessment that needs improvement. To do you, you'll first have to:

  1. Login to the WGU student portal
  2. Enter the course you're working on
  3. Click the "Assessments" tab
  4. Enter/View the assessment you need to check

After that, you'll see this page:

Click the "Evaluation Report" tab to see the following screen:

As you can see, in this tab you'll be able to see a breakdown of every section of the paper along with the evaluation status and the attempt number (see red square). If all the sections are marked as "Competent" (see blue square), you've passed the assessment. However, sometimes a part (or multiple sections) of the assignment needs improvement, then you will see either an "APPROACHING COMPETENCE" or "NOT EVIDENT" status, that's when you have to check the professor's comments and the rubric instructions to see what is it that you need to improve.

To check that, click the section you need to work on to see the following screen:

NOTE: The portal we used for this example did not have any not evident or approaching competence section, but we are still using it to show you where you need to look for feedback.

To the left (red square) you'll see the part of the rubric that specifies what you need to write for each section, you can use this info to guide you and analyze what you need to improve. To the right (blue square) you'll see the professor's comments for each section.

Make sure to follow these instructions to get a "Competent" in your next submission!
